Vidalia

Installing Vidalia on Mac OS X

Installing the Bundle

Note: If you have previously installed the Tor/Privoxy-only package from Tor's download page, we recommend that you uninstall it first before installing our bundle.

  1. Grab the latest OS X bundle from our download page.
  2. Open the .dmg and run the installer. You will be prompted for a location into which Vidalia, Tor, and Privoxy will be installed.
  3. When the installer is complete Privoxy will be started for you and Vidalia will be placed in your Applications folder.

At this point, you can configure your browser or any other SOCKS-capable applications to go through Tor. See Step 2 on this page for more information on configuring your browser. See this page for information on configuring several other applications to use Tor.

Installing Vidalia by itself

  1. Make sure you have Tor 0.1.2.x or higher installed.
  2. Grab the latest Vidalia-only installer (.dmg) from our download page.
  3. Open the .dmg and drag the Vidalia icon to your Applications folder in Finder.

Optionally, you can also drag the Vidalia icon from your Applications folder into your dock, as shown in the screenshot attached to this page.

Building the OS X Packages

We have Vidalia disk images (.dmg) available for Mac OS X "Tiger" on the download page, or you can build one yourself.
