Description
Hi there,
Thanks for your great work. I would like to mention a Vidalia behaviour that I didn't expect. A presumably related issue came up in summer 2007 under ticket #247.
When I uncheck the box <Show this window at startup> I have no access to the <Preferences...> menu item (not highlighted) under the <Vidalia> menu after restarting the computer the next morning (laptop). Also the other menus <Tor>, <View> and <Help> are not there.
Here is the consequence for daily usage, when there is no access to the Vidalia menus. When I'm in an environment where I decide to provide Tor relay traffic for example I have to shut down Vidalia, edit the configuration file ~/.vidalia/vidalia.conf and change the line ShowMainWindowAtStart?=false and restart Vidalia to get back the controls. This makes it harder to provide anonymity for myself and for others. And as far as I see it, Vidalia aims to makes that easier. I would prefer to have access to the menu at all times but not have the <Vidalia Control Panel> pop up when I start the computer.
I have tried with the following combinations - Vidalia 0.0.14, Tor 0.1.2.18, Qt 4.3.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.1 (9B18), Darwin 9.1.0 - Vidalia 0.0.14, Tor 0.1.2.18, Qt 4.3.2 on Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S165), Darwin 8.11.0 - Vidalia 0.0.16, Tor 0.1.2.19, Qt 4.3.3 on Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S165), Darwin 8.11.0
Cheers,
Christian
