Vidalia icon not in system tray

Reported by: vidalia Owned by: developer

Description

OS:Windows XP Professional 2002, SP2

installed Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle: 0.1.2.17 (sig). Vidalia icon failed to land in system tray, delete and install Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle:0.2.0.7-alpha (sig) Vidalia icon still fails to show up in system tray. Tried installing them separately (Vidalia: 0.0.14), still no icon.

"Hide inactive icons" in the Start menu's properties is NOT checked, hence inactive icons NOT hidden.

I tried restarting the computer several times after each installation, but each time I get a message "Tor Network Map not responding" when shutting down. I don't know if this has anything to do with Vidalia icon not showing up.

Been trying this for almost a month to no avail. Read other tickets but still no answers.

Thanks, Kay

Running Win XP SP2, When I launch Privoxy (via Startup Group), Privoxy and Vidalia startup; however, Tor does not startup, so I end up having to manually launch Tor, which works fine afterwards. In addition, the Vidalia Control Panel Icon does not appear in the system tray, so I have no means to configure Vidalia. Any idea what is causing this behavior?

I have the same problem using either the standard Vidalia-Tor Packages (Stable vidalia-bundle-0.1.2.17-0.0.14.exe and Alpha releases vidalia-bundle-0.2.0.7-alpha-0.0.14.exe) or PortableTor? (PortableTor?-0.1.2.14-0.0.11-0.exe and PortableTor?-0.1.2.17-0.0.14-0.exe). Never does the Vidalia Tracy Icon appear or does Tor automatically startup.

Please help.

Thanks!

Just to echo this, XP SP2 with latest stable version, and also not seeing the Vidalia icon in the system tray. As above have tried the "active icons" and all other suggestions in other tickets. Great service otherwise, hopefully someone can figure out why the icon is missing in so many systems. Note that the icon does appear in my W2K machine.

thanks

Les
